Abel Salazar

With great sadness and much love we all mourn the passing of Abel Salazar, 69, of Kemah Texas, on September 6th, 2024. 

Abel was born on October 10, 1954 to Donato and Amparo Ramirez Salazar in Houston Texas.

Abel Salazar was a true music virtuoso, both writing music and entertaining thousands locally and internationally throughout the years. His musical talent included vocals, piano(keyboards), saxophone, flute, guitar, bass guitar, drums and any other instrument he could get his hands on. Often fondly referred to as "Maestro", he happily shared his musical gifts with others both professionally and on "jam night". He tried to, and could, make just about everyone sound good (adjusting the key as necessary). Abel was a true gentleman, always having a kind word for everyone he met. He couldn't tell a lie, and we should all be as honest as he was. 

Abel Salazar was an avid lover of Coca-Cola, UFOs, Unsolved Mysteries, CSI and Wheel of Fortune. 

Abel was in the original class of the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston Texas, graduating in 1974. After graduation he went on to tour the world with many well known musicians, eventually settling in the Bay Area. It was there, at Claudio's Restaurant almost 35 years later, that he ran across his fellow HSPVA graduate DeAnn. They were married shortly after that on March 27, 2008 in Kemah TX. 

Abel leaves behind his beloved wife, DeAnn, sons Abel (Sonia) Bryan Salazar, Mario (Gloria Martinez) Salazar, daughter Sasha Salazar, daughters Marissa Krause, Jessica Jones, Stevie Bowers, siblings Delia S Chavez, James Salazar, Michael Salazar, Deborah S Hernandez, 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many, many loving friends and family. 

Abel is lovingly missed by Einstein and Minnie Mouse, his furry family, who will miss him lying on the floor with them. 

Abel Salazar was a shining star who is greatly missed as he leaves this Earth. He is truly now in "The Company of Angels".
