Beatrice "Betty" Holguin Velazquez

Beatrice "Betty" Holguin Velazquez, 70, was born on March 29, 1946 in Pecos, Texas and was called up to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2017 in Houston Texas. Betty was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Betty was funny, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed life. She loved dancing and listening to spanish music. She always watched Jeopardy and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with her special gel pens. She loved reading the newspaper and an assortment of magazines. She worked many years as a teacher's aide for HISD, where she taught Pre-K and Kindergartens students. Betty loved and cared for her family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Ignacia Olguin; her brother, Paul Garcia, and her sister, Berta Garcia. She is survived by her son, Victor Gomez; her daughters, Yvonne Hernandez, Rachel Loera & husband Leo, and Andrea Gomez; her brothers, Gonzalo Garcia, George Garcia, and Alfredo Garcia; her sisters, Sally Sisneros & husband Michael, Terri Villanueva, and Yoland Vega; her grandchildren, Christopher Martinez, Marissa Poblano, Nicole Martinez, Gabriel Solorzano, Bianca Gomez, Andrew Gomez, Iris Cisneros, Junior Cisneros, and Matthew Loera; and her 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 6pm at The Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel. Cremation will take place on a later date.
