It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Dolores Flores Rios, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who left us on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 65. Cynthia’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering selflessness touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on December 17, 1959, in Laredo, Texas, to Esteban and Rosa Flores, she was a beacon of love throughout her life.
Cynthia was the epitome of compassion. She dedicated many years to the care of her mother, offering her time, energy, and devotion with boundless love. Her selflessness was limitless, always putting others before herself and never seeking recognition for the sacrifices she made.
A true nurturer, Cynthia was also known for her extraordinary culinary talents. Her home was always a place of warmth, where friends, family, and anyone in need of a comforting meal could find refuge. Cynthia’s kitchen was where love was served in every dish, and no one ever left her home hungry. Her generosity extended far beyond the dinner table—she shared her heart as freely as she shared her meals.
Those who knew Cynthia will remember her for her gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and quiet strength. She had a unique ability to make others feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. Her kindness and generosity were constants in her life, and her selflessness served as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Esteban Flores; her ex-husband, Jose Antonio "Tony" Rios; and her two brothers-in-law, Joe Stanford and Ramiro Rodriguez. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, leaving to mourn her passing her mother, Rosa H. Flores; her daughter, Amanda Marie Rios; her sisters, Rosario "Chow" Stanford, Graciela "Gracie" Rodriguez, Elsa Alvarez and her husband Joe Alvarez, Mary Ann Guerrero and her husband Nash Guerrero, and Irene Salinas; her beloved grandchildren, Juliana Gabriella Vela and Jaime Marie Vela; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and a host of dear friends.
Cynthia will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing her.
