1944 - 2019

Douglas MacArthur Averitt, 74, was born on August 26, 1944 in Coushata, Louisiana, and was called up to be with his Lord and Savior on January 18, 2019 in Houston, Texas.  Douglas was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend.  He loved his family and all his many birds that he shared with his wife.  Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Columbus Averitt and Emma Virginia Smith; his brothers, W. C. Averitt and Billy Ray Averitt; his sisters, Beatrice Averitt, Thelma Estelle Averitt, Ruby Mae Prough, Willie Mae Huffman, and Mary Francis Averitt. Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marta Averitt; and his sister, Majorie Gamble.  Douglas will be dearly missed by all who shared wonderful memories with him.
