Emilia Gutierrez was born on March 30, 1927 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico to her loving parents, Merced Rodriguez & Conrada Zapata. Emilia was called to be with her Lord and Savior on March 1, 2017 in Houston, Texas while being surrounded by her loving family. Emilia is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Martin Gutierrez; her sons, Pedro Gutierrez & Ruben Gutierrez; and her brothers, Victor Rodriguez, Francisco Rodriguez, Wence Rodriguez, Hilario Rodriguez, & Ventura Rodriguez. She is survived by her sons, Tomas Gutierrez & wife Blanca, Martin Gutierrez, Jr. & wife Chelo, Jaime Gutierrez & wife Christine, & Jorge Gutierrez & wife Arlene; her daughters, Maria Esther Barrientos, Olga & husband Fred, Alicia Puentes & husband Oswaldo, Connie Carrillo & husband Manuel, Martha Gutierrez, & Guadalupe Cardenas & husband Alejandro; her grandchildren, Liliana, Pedro Alberto, Anel, Olivia, Tomas, Jr., Liz, Juan Ramon, Jose Luis, Itzel, Emily, Angel, Alejandro, Aaron, Christian, Nico, Nadia, Jacquelin, Sierra, Olivia, Gabriel, Steven, Nataly, Mitchell, Valerie, Melanie, Adrian, Geraldo, Fernando, Mia, & Juanita; her sister, Maria De La Luz; and 18 great grandchildren. Emilia enjoyed having family gatherings and loved having a house full of people, it brought so much joy to her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and hard work. She will be dearly missed by all of those she shared life with.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5pm to 9pm with a Rosary being recited at 7pm at The Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church (2320 Oakcliff St., Houston, Texas 77023) at 10am. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale. A Bereavement Gathering will be held at Spring Creek Forest Club (17515 Fairway Oaks Dr., Spring, Texas 77379).
