Esequiel leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 19 years Juanita “Janie” Rodriguez Canales, his daughters: Linda Luna, Evelyn Cardona, Elizabeth Medina, Lillian Canales, Elisa (Alberico) Maldonado, step-children: Diego Gallegos, Anita Carmona, Ignacio R (Guadalupe) Gallegos JR, Ramiro (Ofelia) Gallegos, Amelia (Frank) Flores, Juanita Enriquez, Carolina (Rudy) Castaneda, Emma Castaneda, Melchor (Mary) Gallegos, his grandchildren: Solidad (Danielle) Gutierrez, Jennifer (Albert) Garza, Thomas Andrew Gutierrez, Ben (Vanessa) Garza Jr., Rodney (Yoli) Garza, Christopher Garza, Angela Garza, Tim Luna, Cindy Luna, Rochelle (Cody) McKenney, Anne Longoria, Frank (Maria) Longoria, Eric Longoria, numerous step-grandchildren, great-
grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He proudly served his country during World War II in the US Army. He lived a life of adventures through his travels while working as a merchant seaman with Lykes Line, a league baseball player and played the saxophone in a band. He had a zest for life: he loved entertaining, was a phenomenal cook, and a loyal Houston Astros fan. Esequiel attended The House of Refuge Church for many years in Pasadena, Texas.
