Frank Reyes, 81, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024. Born on June 16, 1943, in Burton, Texas, to Augustine H. Reyes and Jane Torres, Frank leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family that will be cherished forever.
Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Virginia P. Reyes; his cherished daughter, Nora Jane Reyes, and her husband, David Reyes; his sons, Ben Patrick Reyes and his wife, Lucila; John and Alejandra Reyes; as well as his 14 grandchildren, Erica, Frank (Karina), Crystal (Jose), David, Amanda, Michael, Bianca, Alec, Corey, Andres, Alyssa, Alina, and Matthew. His great-grandchildren—Victor, Daniella, Bryan, Elena, Nathan, Isabella, Sophie, and Jude—along with his great-great-grandchild, Lucas, will remember him as a loving and guiding presence. Frank is also survived by his siblings Tony Reyes, Ben T. Reyes, Johnny Reyes, Gregg Reyes, Tina Reyes, Lillie Contreras, Mary Castillo, Caroline Lopez, and Michelle Webster.
Frank’s life was marked by a profound commitment to his family. His greatest joy was found in the company of his loved ones, and he took immense pride in organizing family gatherings, from elaborate dinners and weekend barbecues to cherished Sunday morning breakfasts filled with menudo, eggs, barbacoa, beans, bacon, and flour tortillas. These moments were more than meals; they were celebrations of the love and unity that defined his family life.
Professionally, Frank’s journey began in the logistics industry, where his passion and determination quickly set him apart. Starting from a warehouse job, he ventured into entrepreneurship with the support of his father-in-law and uncle. Together with his wife Virginia, he founded a business that would grow and thrive for over 44 years. Frank’s dedication to his work was paralleled by his commitment to mentoring those around him. He was a leader who took pride in seeing his employees gain knowledge and experience, ensuring they were well-equipped for their own success.
His career took him and Virginia across the globe, from Canada and Singapore to Africa and South America, yet despite his international travels, his heart remained firmly anchored at home. Frank’s business acumen was matched by his genuine interest in people, whether he was interacting with warehouse staff or CEOs, and his approachable demeanor made him a friend to many.
Outside of work, Frank was an avid golfer, known for his vibrant and cheerful attire on the course. His annual trips to Guadalajara, Mexico, were particularly special, where he formed lasting friendships with fellow golf enthusiasts. Frank’s zest for life was evident in his colorful golf shirts and his spirited approach to the game.
In his later years, Frank developed a love for reading, with John Grisham being his favorite author. He also pursued a passion for collecting antique cars and adored his two chihuahuas, Bella and Bella 2.0, who were integral members of his family. He treated them with the same love and care that he showed to his human family.
Frank’s life was a testament to his unwavering love for his family and his enduring spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for the warmth, kindness, and joy he brought into the lives of everyone he met.
