1927 - 2017

On Thursday, November 9, 2017, George Bazan went to be with the lord. Preceded in death by Ricky Bazan (son), Modesto & Victoria Bazan (parents), Gilberto Bazan (brother). He is survived by Margaret Villagomez Bazan (wife of 65 yrs), Becky Bazan (daughter), George Bazan Jr. (son) and Edward & Julie Bazan (son and daughter-in-law), Sarah Rodriguez (grand-daughter), Javier, Jaime & Jose Bazan (brothers), Julieta & Gilda Bazan (sisters). Born in Houston, Texas, he was raised in Tampico, Tamaulipas (Mexico) where he found his love for soccer, music, and dancing. He returned to Houston where he served with the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean war and later attended the University of Houston. Although retired for many years, he worked as a Draftsman in the oil and gas industry for various companies in the Houston area. His love for sports touched many people over the years. He coached Little League baseball for many years and was an avid supporter of F.U.N Football with the South Main Mustangs. He founded the Brentwood Jaguars Soccer Club and was one of the original youth soccer coaches in Houston beginning in the mid-60s. Many of his players went on to become youth soccer coaches and their children continue to spread the beautiful game. He was a longtime season ticket holder for the Houston Astros, and Houston Oilers, where he enjoyed many afternoons at the Astrodome. He attended many soccer games for the United States Men's National soccer team and a member of Sam's Army, the original supporter's group that spawned many other groups. He was a member for many years with the Club Cultural Mexico Bello while preparing many young ladies for their debutante ball.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm at The Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel.

Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10am at The Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel.

Interment will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
