Our loving and sweet mother is now at peace and in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Guadalupe Cornejo Guzman, 89, was born on December 19, 1927 in el Rancho de Cuaracurio, Michoacán, México and departed this life on April 26, 2016 in Houston, Texas. She married Juan V. Guzman on July 12, 1945 in the Templo de Santa Maria Magdalena in Cuitzeo, Michoacán, México. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1951 and resided in the Barrio de Crisol. She was a consummate wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. In her leisure she loved to walk through her garden picking fruits and tending to her beautiful flowers.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Luis Cornejo and Emereciana Cruz; sisters, Elpidia Cruz, Inosencia Cruz, Amada Cornejo, Narcissa Cornejo, Maria Cornejo, Ines Cornejo; brothers, Lujencio Cornejo, Francisco Cornejo, and Anastacio Cornejo; granddaughter, Claudia Chavez; and son in law, Jorge Cardenas.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Juan V. Guzman; her daughters, Concepcion Quezada, Eva Cardenas widow of Jorge Cardenas., Samia Hernandez & husband Dave, Jr., Graciela Saenz & husband Al Castillo, Guadalupe Chavez & husband Marcial; her sons, Francisco Guzman & wife Mara Daisy, Cruz Guzman & wife Zoe Ann; Louis Guzman & wife Veronica, Juan Guzman & wife Teresa; 28 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; she is also survived by a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6pm to 9pm with a Rosary being recited at 7pm at The Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10am with Fr. Henry Walker officiating at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (7250 Harrisburg Blvd.). Rite of Committal will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.Visits: 8
