Gumaro Vargas, 58, of Galveston, TX, passed away on July 4, 2020, after a long illness.  Gumy was born on January 22, 1962, in Los Angeles, CA., to Eliazar Vargas Reyes and Estella Cavazos Vargas.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Eleazar.  Gumy is survived by his children Deyna Castillo (Lexer), Robert Castillo and Cristian Ontiveros, grandchildren Bella, Mia, and Gabriel, brothers and sisters Oscar Vargas (Alma), Rodolfo Vargas (Gloria), Yolanda Longoria, Silvia Alvarez (Ricardo), and Esther Porter (Carlton), numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends who will cherish his memory.

Gumy worked hard to support his family, and valued his independence managing and operating his construction business.  He was dedicated to his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He attended Galveston College and was certified in Heating and Air Conditioning Repair.  He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, fast cars, motorcycles, and spending time at the beach.
