Janet Marie Anderson Holmes
, age 65, slipped peacefully into death on November 3, 2014. She was surrounded by her family and close friends. Janet was born on April 16, 1949 in Wilmington, Delaware and spent her young childhood in Delaware and Pennsylvania. Her family relocated to Houston, where she quickly adopted Texas as her home state. She received her high school diploma from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston in 1967. Throughout Janet’s life, in the face of illness and adversity, Janet never lost faith. Her faith kept her strong to fight the afflictions that attacked her body and soul. She did so with a quiet dignity. Even when it was apparent that her illness was too much for her body, she remained faithful and hopeful. Janet was kind and loving, and a wonderful friend. She gave generously to friends with no expectation of receiving in return, and answered calls for help with her service. She especially loved children, and was adopted as “Aunt Janet” by many children of her close friends. After she lost her own 9 month baby girl to muscular dystrophy, she contributed yearly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help seek a cure for the disease. Janet enjoyed just about anything that could be done around water, but especially soaking in a pool or deep sea fishing. She also enjoyed working with different art media. She created beautiful needle art, pottery, stained glass, and jewelry. She had a high level of energy and kept busy. Her leisure time was spent reading. Janet is preceded in death by her only daughter, Tracy Kathleen Berry. She leaves behind her parents, Helen and Edgar Anderson of Abilene, TX, sister Cheryl Ancira and husband Tom of Sealy, TX; her sister Kathy Feagan and husband Richard of Abilene, TX; her brother Tom Anderson and wife Linda of Boca Raton, FL; her nephew Richard Feagan of Lubbock, TX; two great nieces and one great nephew.
