JOSEPHINE CANTU DAMIAN
September 17, 1936 – May 4, 2018
Josephine Cantu Damian passed to our Savior on May 4, 2018. She lived each moment for her family and friends, guiding them in both the darkest and brightest of times. Josephine was the fourth child of the late Abundio and Delfina Cantu. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Damian and son, Johnny Damian, Jr.; brothers, Lupe Cantu and Edward Cantu and sister, Frances Cantu Soliz.
Josephine was known for her Catholic faith, strong work ethic, loving nature and magnetic smile. Josephine worked at Sakowitz for over 40 years and retired from Saks Fifth Avenue. She loved selling Men’s Furnishings and truly missed her customers and fellow employees upon retirement. She volunteered at MD Anderson and enjoyed giving encouragement to family members and patients.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Brenda Damian Wilkerson. She was a loving Grandma and MoMo to her five grandchildren, Johnny Damian, III, Aaron Damian, Damian Wilkerson, Danielle Wilkerson and Dylan Wilkerson. She is also survived by her brother, Isabel “Jack” Cantu; sisters, Mary Gutierrez and Reynalda Carmona. She will be remembered and forever loved by her many family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 pm on May 8, 2018 at Compean Funeral Home, 2102 Broadway Blvd., Houston, TX 77012. In addition, a Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 am on May 9, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 7539 Ave K, Houston, TX 77012 - Interment to follow at Forest Park Cemetery – Lawndale.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Encompass Health Hospice, her caretakers – Rosa Gonzalez, Tequietra Martin and nurse aid – Rosalyn Butler and her hospice volunteers, Kathy Larsen, Alexandra Oates and Albert Chung.
