Manuel Cortez, 65, was born on May 23, 1952 in El Campo, Texas to Antonio Cortez, Sr. and Canuta Herrera and was called up to be with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2018 in Houston, Texas while surrounded by his loving family. Manuel was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved spending time with his family and believed family always came first. He loved to dance and listen to Zydeco and Tejano music. Always going to Jamaicas and Festivals with the family. Manuel was a big sports fan. He enjoyed watching his favorite college football team, the Longhorns and watching the Astros win the world series. Manuel enjoyed the good things in life, but always loved being with his grandchildren, especially with his baby Joseph. Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Canuta Cortez; his brothers, Johnny Cortez, Sr. and Guadalupe Jose Cortez; and his sister, Aurora Cortez. He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Ann Salazar; his brothers, Antonio Cortez, Jr. and Pedro Cortez; his sisters, Emily Jimenez, Teresa Savedra, Gumecinda Araguz, Mary Lou Abbasi, Rosalinda Brodie, and Hermelinda Kahanek; and his grandchildren, Jesus Manuel Salas Salazar and Joseph Ruben Sandoval; and many other relatives and friends. Manuel will be dearly missed by all who shared wonderful memories with him.
