Margarita J. Erebia

1943 - 2018

Margarita “Mage” Jaramillo Erebia peacefully returned to her heavenly home on Friday December 28, 2018 at the age of 75. Margarita, born Thursday June 10, 1943 in Nordheim, TX to the late Florencio & Sarah Jaramillo, was one of thirteen siblings.

Being accustomed to a large family, it is no surprise that she preferred to spend her time surrounded by those she loved. Whether it was having the family with the highest number of attendants at the annual family reunion, which was something she was comically competitive at, or teaching her daughters/granddaughters to make menudo in the kitchen, she was the center of the festivities. The time spent with her family was precious to her. It was always apparent through her smile which could light up any room. That smile has been embedded in the hearts of her family along with memories of weekends spent crabbing, fishing with cane poles or laughing the way through car rides from Nordheim to Houston.

Gammy, as her grandchildren lovingly called her, had a contagious laugh that was front and center at every holiday celebration.  She loved dancing with her family at any special occasion, and could often be spotted at the bingo hall showing her kids or grandkids up.

She created a family that was focused on unity and love. Her children inherited her gene for faith, compassion and always being there when they were needed. The passing of these traits was evident through tender care that her daughter Janet initiated when her health started to decline followed by the sacrifices of daughter Jacquelyn and granddaughter Gabrielle, along with the whole Rodriguez family, displayed in her final years.  Jacquelyn and Gabrielle were selfless and benevolent when caring for her and the family will forever be grateful.  There is nowhere that she would have rather been and there is no one that could have cared better for her.

Margarita is preceded in death by her parents, Florencio Jaramillo and Sarah Wallis; her husband, Santiago A. Ramirez; and her sisters, Emma Duque and Frances Jaramillo. She is survived by her son, Louis A. Erebia (Amanda); her daughters, Connie A. Perez (Santos), Diana E. Espinoza (Mariano), Janet Erebia, Jacquelyn Rodriguez (Gabriel), and Jessica L. Berger (Darren); her siblings, Florencio Jaramillo (Soila), Elisa Castillo, Nick Jaramillo (Janie), Gregory Jaramillo (Barbara), Robert Jaramillo (Libby), Ben Jaramillo, Flora Jaramillo, Savas Jaramillo (David), and Mary Pargmann (Roger); her grandchildren, Ricky, Becky (Luis), J.D. (Mayra), Brian, Lauren, John, Ashley (Andy), Brittanee (George), Morgan, Juan Jr. (Maria), Priscilla, Lacey, Brandy, Austin, Logan, Brooklyn, Addison, Jasmine (Ben), Gabby, Gabriel Jr. "Boy", Alisia, Mariah, Emily, and Riley; and her great grandchildren, Ashley, Ricky Jr., Anthony, Jaden, Coby, Izayah, Natalie, Ariel, Ethan, Jose, Juan, Jesus, Abigail, Juan III, Sofia, Jason, Raelyn, Chloe, Dalilah, and Richie.
