Maria Luisa Avina

1926 - 2017

Maria Luisa Avina was born on August 29, 1926 in Veracruz, Mexico. Maria Luisa was called Home with her Lord and Savior on December 30, 2017 in Houston, Texas while being surrounded by her loving family. Maria Luisa is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Torres Avina; her son, Manuel Victor Avina; and her daughter, Lupita Avina. She is survived by her sons, Anthony Avina & wife Linda, Ismael Avina, and Luis Avina & wife Gloria; her daughters, Norma Suarez & husband David Cordova, Maricela Reyna & husband Pedro Jasso, and Gabriela Alvarez; her brothers, Eusebio Perez, Juan Morales, and Ignacio Morales; her sister, Consuelo Morales; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many more relatives and friends. Maria Luisa will be remembered by all of her family and friends as a woman of strong faith, a wonderful mother, and as the family matriarch. Maria Luisa leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 5pm to 9pm with a Rosary being recited at 7pm at The Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10am at The Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (2405 Navigation Blvd., Houston, Texas 77003).

Rite of Committal will follow immediately after Funeral Mass in Rosewood Memorial Park.
