On Thursday, December 22, 2022, Evangelina and Mauro Blanco gained their angel wings with their faithful dog, Sparky at their side.
Evangelina “Angie” Martinez Blanco, 75, was born on January 24, 1947, to Valentina Gonzalez Martinez and Adan Martinez in Houston, Texas. Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Luis Espinoza, Jr. Angie retired from HISD after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
Mauro Lugo Blanco, 79, was born on November 21, 1943, to Delores and Antonio Blanco in Mineral San Pedro de Los Pozos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Mauro was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mauro proudly served his country with the Marines and eventually retired from TRW/Sandvik.
On September 4, 1984, Angie and Mauro got married and started their amazing journey together. They leave behind to cherish and treasure their memories, their sons, Alex Blanco (Cathy), Vincent Espinoza (Erlin), Michael Espinoza (Andrea); and daughters, Tanya Blanco-Gurtiza (Blaine) and Maurolyn Blanco-Kalawe (Johnnie), and their precious grandchildren, Aron Blanco, Ariel Espinoza, Mia Espinoza, Brianna Espinoza, Evan Espinoza, Vince Sebastian Espinoza (due in 2023), Kayla Gurtiza and Landon Gurtiza. They are also survived by so many other relatives and friends who loved them dearly.
As devout Catholics, they were well known and respected at Immaculate Conception Church where Angie was very involved with the CCE program and a regular church parishioner and volunteer. Angie and Mauro were proud grandparents and frequently present and involved at their grandchildren’s school and sports activities where they were often seen cheering on the sidelines. Their absence will leave a huge gap for everyone who loved and adored them.
Services for Angie and Mauro will be held at
Immaculate Conception Church, 7250 Harrisburg Blvd, Houston 77011.
