Mike Gonzales, 69, was born on August 24, 1949 in Houston, Texas and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 17, 2019 in Friendswood, Texas. Mike received a degree in education from Texas Southern University and taught fifth and sixth grade for several years in the Houston Independent School District. Later he attended the University of Houston, Clear Lake and received a Master of Science degree in guidance and counseling. Mike continued to work in HISD as a counselor until he retired. He especially enjoyed working in a Drug Prevention Program in various schools in the district and was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Teresa Licea Marin and father, Edilberto Gonzales. He is survived by his sister, Rachel Flores and her husband Frank, his niece Lauren Carroll and her husband Alvaro, and their children, Gabriel, Sydney, and Abby, and his nephew, Byron Flores. His brother, Johnny Castillo and wife Rose, his nephew Michael Castillo and wife Cindy, and their daughter, Audrey, his niece Jessica Saenz and husband Gerardo, and their children, Olivia, Sophia, and Jerry. Mike will be greatly missed by all who shared wonderful memories with him.
