Oralia "Lali" Perez Melgar

Oralia “Lali” Melgar, 78, was born on July 20, 1946, in Brownsville, TX and was called to be with our Lord and Savior on March 17, 2025. Growing up in Brownsville before eventually moving to Houston, Oralia was a very caring, supportive, and giving person. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and adored her children and grandchildren. “Lali” cherished family time, enjoyed having friendly conversations with anyone she met, and loved to dance. Oralia raised her children well, providing guidance and structure needed to shape them into the people they are today. Lali is survived by children, Jacqueline Gonzales-Slay, Jason Eladio Melgar (Wiston), and Diana Mia Medina (Oscar); her stepsons, Joaquin Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales (Tracey); her grandchildren, Kevin Oscar Medina, Roland Rey Medina, and Julian Leo Medina. Brothers and sister, Larry Perez, Ruben Perez (Maria), John J Perez (Alice), Mary De Los Santos (Rudy) and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother, Ramon Perez, Jr, sister Florentina Perez Leos, father, Ramon Perez, Sr and mother, Maria Perez and niece Melissa Ann Camposano. As we say goodbye to Oralia, let’s remember her as the beautiful person she was, both inside and out. Her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love, laughter, and spirit will forever be a part of us.
