Oswaldo Aguilar, age 75, a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 5, 2014. Oswaldo was born on January 24, 1939, in San Miguel de Carmago, Tamps, to parents Victor and Elena Aguilar. He graduated from La Joya High School in 1958. Oswaldo proudly served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966. In 1966, he married Nohemi Aguilar Flores. The couple moved to Houston in 1971. He retired from the Port of Houston Authority after 25 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Eloy Omar Aguilar. Oswaldo is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nohemi Flores Aguilar; daughters Cynthia Yvonne Aguilar, Celeste Aguilar Polanco (husband Edgar Polanco), and Lillian Magaly Aguilar (husband Shawn Herrera); grandchildren Ethan Andrew Sanchez, Victor Evan Polanco, Abigail Elena Polanco, and Antonio Herrera; siblings Gregorio Aguilar, Librada Gandaria, and Guadalupe Garcia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Oswaldo embraced life and lived it to the fullest and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the many people whose lives he touched.

A visitation with the family will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 2pm-9pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm in the Compean Main Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church (3301 Pasadena Blvd., Pasadena, TX.) and will begin promptly at 9:30am on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Interment will follow in Houston National Cemetery where Oswaldo will be laid to rest with Full Veteran Military Honors by District 4.
