Paul Dwain Carter

Paul Dwain Carter was born on October 9, 1925 in Genoa, Arkansas to Grace Rose and John Mack Carter. He had one sister Doris Irene Allen Smith and two brothers Albert Denver Allen and Doyle Rose Carter. All preceded him in death. Paul attended school at Genoa Central until he graduated. Soon after high school, he joined the Air Force and was loyal to his country until the war ended. He then came home and went to college at the University of Arkansas where he studied electrical engineering. Eventually, he moved to Houston, Texas and began working for Robert H. Ray Geophysical. His job sent him to many countries around the world including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Bolivia, and Australia just to name a few. He traveled and worked many years and had lots of interesting stories to tell at the dinner table. Paul was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, and he became a Scout Master and was very dedicated to his scout troop. Many of his scouts earned their Eagle award. He was honored with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. It was while he was a scout leader that he adopted Tony Cervantes, who was one of his cub scouts. He raised Tony in Livingston, Texas, where he retired to a large wooded area that he loved. Tony and his wife Brandi blessed Paul with a grandson Jordan, who is now almost three years old. Paul loved his new role as Grampa. Even stepping in to be Grampa for one of his great nephews Jett. Our Uncle Paul was a kind and caring man who was always ready to rise to the occasion when there was a need to do so. Every niece or nephew was more like his own and that's how he treated all of us. If anyone needed or wanted something Uncle Paul was there for them. He spoiled us and will be truly missed. We love you Uncle Paul. Paul had a love of the outdoors and plants that led him to become an official member of the Lily Society. He would travel to their meetings and stayed very involved for years. The Lily Society even named a lily for him. He developed his own special lilies which took years of grafting, work and patience. More recently, he slowed down a bit and enjoyed his morning cup of coffee across the street with his sister-in-law Betty. This was his routine until April, 4, 2017, when he passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in his home. Paul is survived by his nephews Pat Allen Smith, Charles (Chuck) Alan Carter, Doyle Brian Carter, and nieces Susan Grace Carter Lindeen, and Caren Lee Carter Marshall as well as many great nieces and nephews and also great great nieces and nephews; many relatives and friends.
