1948 ~ 2019
Paul M. Valdez, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 17,
2019 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Paul was born in Houston on July 16, 1948 and grew up in the Magnolia area of Houston. In 1968, he was drafted and proudly served his country in the US Army. His love for his country and his patriotism is something that never left him. Upon his return from the Army, he met and eventually married the love of his life, Martha. They spent the next 47 years together raising a family and enjoying life’s adventures.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Benita Valdez, his sisters Mary Esquivel and Yolanda Perez, and brothers Reynaldo and Ralph Valdez, as well as his half-siblings Benita Rios, Victoria Gallardo, Beatrice Rojas, and PFC Tirzo Valdez. He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Valdez, and five children; Tonia Trejo and her husband Robert, Lori Valdez and her spouse Joey, son Paul Valdez, Jr., and daughters Rebecca and Mary Jane Valdez, and brothers Felipe, Richard, Marcelino and David Valdez. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Jacob Rhodes, Hunter Thomas, JoJo Trejo, Paul Angel Valdez, Jose Iruegas, Stacy Trejo, Nikki Iruegas, Paris Valdez, Jessica Iruegas, Michael Palomarez, Isabella Iruegas and Matthew Palomarez, as well as one great-granddaughter, Zena Valdez.
Family and friends find it appropriate that God would call him home during Holy Week, as Easter was his favorite holiday. He was a good and faithful servant and his life was a true reflection of God’s love and grace. Paul loved and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew him for his loving spirit, lively stories and unwavering love for his wife and family.

from 3 - 9 pm and Friday, April 26

from 10 – 12. A Veterans burial at the Houston National Cemetery will follow at 2:15 pm.
