Petra Maria Berlanga, 73, was born on May 19, 1949 in Montémorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and was called to Heaven with our Heavenly Father on April 30, 2023 in Houston, Texas.  Petra was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Family was her greatest pride and joy.  She always said that when her family was together and united, she was the happiest.  She expressed her love and dedication when she cooked for her children and grandchildren.  Her food was always made with an extra dose of love and everyone loved her cooking.  She loved spending time in her garden and always had the most beautiful plants and flowers.  She was always ready to go shopping, play loteria or go to the casino.  When she wanted to rest and relax, she traveled to her home in Mexico where she felt great peace and tranquility. 

Petra leaves behind, to cherish and treasure her memories, her loving husband of 53 years, Antonio Berlanga; daughter, Martha Alicia Jimenez and husband Ernest Anthony Jimenez; daughter, Maricruz Berlanga Martinez and husband Jose Manuel Martinez; daughter, Nereida Berlanga Martinez and husband Daniel Martinez; son, Antonio Berlanga, Jr.; son, Miguel Angel Berlanga; daughter, Perla Nelly Rodriguez and husband Sergio Daniel Rodriguez; her grandchildren, Monica, Isabel, Antonio (III), Angelina, Lauren, Alex, Aliyah, Angel, Andrew, Alessi, Nicolas; her step-granddaughter, Janelle; her great-grandson, Zahid; her sister Rosa Maria Gallardo; and many other relatives and good friends. 

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.,

 at Compean Funeral Home,

Prayer and rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.  

The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.

at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church,

Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m.

at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery,

6900 Lawndale St.,

Houston, TX 77023.
