10/13/1941 - 12/26/2012     Rev. Eduardo Lopez Molina was born on October 13, 1941 in Ilobasco, Cabañas, El Salvador, Central America & was called home to be with his “Lord & Savior” on December 26, 2012 in Houston, Texas while peacefully seated in front of his desk with his prayer book in front. He is preceded in death by his Father, Manuel Lopez who passed away in 1964 & his Mother, Tomasa Molina who died in 2010. Survivors include his brothers, Hector, Victor Manuel & Pedro Domingo; Sisters, Ana Maria, Religious Sister Emilia Lopez, Maria Elena, Carmen & Ana Gloria; Great Grand Nephew, Gervin Johel Leiva of Houston, Texas & many other family members in Ilobasco, El Salvador. At the age of 8, he received his First Communion & began to serve in his home parish as an altar boy where he joined the Legion of Mary. As an altar boy he accompanied the Vincentian Missionary Priests from Holland in visiting the rural communities near Ilobasco. A significant & unforgettable event in his youth was being a member of a group of children called “Persistent Group”, which wore a red band & the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. In 1959 at the age of 18, Fr. Lopez entered the seminary & joined the Congregation of the Missions known as the St. Vincent Congregation. He studied in Guatemala & was ordained on September 19, 1970 in the Dioceses of San Vicente, at St. Michael Parish in his hometown of Ilobasco, Cabañas in El Salvador at the age of 28. He served as a Priest for 42 years in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama & came to Houston, Texas in 2001 to the Parishes of Holy Name & St. Charles Borromeo where he celebrated the Eucharist, prayed the breviary, visited the sick, administered the sacraments of baptism, witnessed matrimonies, instructed the faithful while preaching & gave pastoral counseling to the faithful. Fr. Lopez was a 4 th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will begin Wednesday, January 2, 2013 with a Rosary at 6:00pm followed by a Vigil Mass at 7:00pm in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 501 Tidwell Rd., Houston, Texas 77022 (ph. 713-692-6303). Following the Mass an overnight honor guard by the Knights of Columbus led by the Fourth Degree Knights. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:00am in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Fr. Lopez will be sent to Ilobasco, El Salvador for another Vigil, Funeral Mass & will be laid to rest in his home parish.
