Ricardo C. Garza, 71, was born on January 22, 1949 in Corpus Christi, Texas, which he loved to call “Cuerpo de Cristo.” He was reunited with his Papa Dios on July 6, 2020, in Houston, Texas. Ricardo was one of twelve children of Blas and Eva Garza and a great loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man of deep faith that knew the importance of family, especially with his loving wife Maria who was always by his side.
As a young boy he grew up traveling with his parents and siblings between Texas and Michigan working in the fields during the picking season for cotton, strawberries, and potatoes. This is where his love for traveling started and lead to him driving eighteen wheelers all across the United States and Canada. When talking with him, if you told him he had traveled a long way, he would always respond with, “esta a la vuelta de la esquina.” In his early years of his marriage he worked as a carpet installer but then left to pursue his passion for driving eighteen wheelers which he later then became a trainer of all new truck drivers from Groendyke Transportation before his retirement. He was proud of his accomplishments in his life; he accomplished so much for a man who had to leave his education at an early age in order to help his family financially.
He was in love with the Lord and always wanted everyone to love the Lord as he much as he did. Every chance he had he made sure to preach the word of God to everyone either by words or actions. Preaching time for him was endless. He also enjoyed joking, whether it was a stranger or a family member, he wanted to get a laugh out of you. All his grandchildren were known to him as little big boy and little big girl. One of his greatest life examples was that he opened his heart and home to all those who needed a hand regardless if you were family or not. His love for all of them remained in each one for which they have never left his side. This is something he loved to do and never gave it a second thought.
Riche leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Maria, his 4 children and spouses Teresa & Victor; Elizabeth & Guadalupe; Walene & Tim; Ricardo Jr. & Erika; 18 grandchildren Emily & partner Ivan, Giselle, Jesus & partner Berenice, Isaac, Andres & spouse Selena, Alexis, Emmanuel, Carlos, Jehova, Timothy, & Aracely, Gennesse, Ricardo III, Emma, Maximus; and 3 great-grandchildren Crystal, & Michael. He also leaves behind 8 surviving brothers Guadalupe, Patricio, Eugenio, Abelardo, Raul, Reymundo, Reynaldo, & Gilbert. Numerous nieces & nephews; many other relatives and friends.
