He will be remembered for being a father-figure to many, for coaching youth baseball in Second Ward, for his love for life, his family, gardening, collecting many things, including sports memorabilia, and restoring his 51 Chevrolet 5-Window Pickup. He was known for his backyard barbecues and listening to his favorites 50’s 60’s, Oldies and Tejano songs with a cold Coors Light. He took great pride in voting and promoting candidates with signs on his front lawn. Richard enjoyed retirement and even adopted a few, new cats and was preparing for the annual Yorktown Western Days festival in his hometown, where family members meet for a reunion weekend of fun, food and making memories.
