Robert Martinez, 64, took the hands of his "Lord & Savior" on February 4, 2014 with his family at his side. He leaves behind to cherish his everlasting memories to his loving wife of 44 years, Sally Cruz Martinez; Sons, Robert Martinez Jr., Gilbert Martinez and girlfriend Crystal Guerrero, Albert Martinez and girlfriend Marisol Gomez; Daughters, Gina Salazar & husband Nemencio, Lena Martinez & husband Vincent Segura, Roberta Martinez & husband Silvestre Flores, Sally A. Martinez & Husband Angel Flores and Elvira Martinez; Brothers, Cecil Martinez, Carlos Martinez & Jesse Martinez; Sisters, Mary Castro, Dahlia Hernandez, Magda Perez & Manuela Shung as well as 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will always be missed.

Visitation hours will begin on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 3pm-9pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm in the Compean Main Chapel. Funeral Services will be officiated by Father John Paul of Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 12:30pm in the Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.

God Looked Down

God looked around His garden and He found an empty place.

He then looked down upon this earth, and saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest,

God’s garden must be beautiful. He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering; He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never get well on this earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.

So He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered, “Peace be thine.”

It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone.

For part of us went with you the day God called you home.
