Roberto L. Cortez was born on November 27, 1932 in Kingsville, Texas to his loving parents, Guadalupe Cortez & Maria De La Luz Lopez. Roberto was called to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2017 in Richmond, Texas while being surrounded by his loving family. Roberto leaves behind a legacy of hard work and love that is now being passed on to his family. He was a man of great jokes that could make anybody laugh. Roberto was preceded in death by his wife, Francisca Gonzalez Cortez (1990); his son, Marcos Antonio Cortez (2016); and his daughter, Belinda Josey Cortez (2016). He is survived by his sons, Roberto Cortez, Jr. & wife Maria, Roel Cortez & wife Rosemary, Enrique Cortez & wife Rocio, & Jose Carlos Cortez; his daughters, Maria Del Rosario Greaves & husband George, Margarita Marquez & husband Roy, & Alma San Miguel & husband Jesse, Jr.; his brother, Severiano Cortez; his sisters, Graciela Rivera & Maria Cortez; 43 grandchildren; 74 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. Roberto will be dearly missed by all of those who shared life with him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 4pm to 9pm with a Rosary being recited at 7pm at The Compean Funeral Home.Celebration of Mass will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10am at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (7250 Harrisburg Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77011).Rite of Committal will follow in Historic Hollywood Cemetery.
