Rudy Flores passed away unexpectedly on December 25th, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Rudy was born in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico in 1948. The oldest of 6 siblings born to Celia and Jose Flores, Rudy was born with natural musical talent. He taught himself how to play the guitar, accordion and piano. He formed his first band as a teenager and called them Los Solteritos.
When his father died at a young age, Rudy and his brother Raul immigrated to the United States. They made their new home in Modesto, California where Rudy, along with 3 Ayala brothers, formed the band Los Humildes. While practicing with the 3 Ayala brothers, Rudy found the love of his life in their sister Martha. Rudy and Martha were married in 1971 and had 4 daughters. Rudy and Martha just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Rudy's significant contributions to the music industry, particularly through his unique musical style, have left an imprint on the hearts of many in the Mexican community. Some of the hit songs he wrote include Ojitos Color Cafe, Amor Eterno, Con Hilo Azul, Aquel Amor, Noemi, Tus Quince Años, Mi Negra, A Mis Amigos del Norte, Anoche Sone, Martha y Un Canto a Michoacan. His passion for music, talent, and dedication created an unbreakable bond with his audience.
Besides composing songs, Rudy enjoyed painting, drawing, and reading. He loved to tell jokes and spend time with family & friends. He was a generous, creative, intelligent man and those of us who knew him feel privileged to have had him in our lives.
Rudy was preceded in death by his daughter Elisabeth Flores, his brother Eulalio Flores and his parents Jose & Celia Flores.
