Ruth Marie "Sister" Smith

Ruth Marie Robinson AKA “Sister” was born September 12, 1945 to Henry Lawrence, Sr. and Ella Marie Robinson and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2017.  At an early age, Ruth confessed and accepted Christ and was baptized of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where Ruth and her family were members.  Later in life she became a member of Graceland Community Church under the leadership of Dr. Rivers R. Glover I.  Ruth was employed at La Quinta Inn in Houston, Texas where she worked for 15 years as custodial manager.  Then later employed at the Fort Bend County Courthouse for 12 years as a custodial manager.  Later on employed at the Richmond Healthcare where she pursued a 27 year career as a devoted certified nurse assistant.

She became a mother of Shrina Merriweather and Justin Dutae Robinson when she raised as her very own children.

Ruth married Oscar Dillar AKA “Stretch” on December 23, 1983 whom she loved dearly.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved Parents; her sisters, Allonia Matthews and Ethel Robinson as well as by her brothers, Grandville Robinson, James Robinson, Henry Robinson, and Earl Robinson; and her husband Oscar Dillar Smith.  Survivors include daughter Shrina Merriweather and son Justin Robinson.  She also leaves to cherish her memories Sisters, Lillie Kimble and Vernell Robinson; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; also numerous nephews, nieces, and other family members and friends.

Interment:  Murphy Jones Cemetery
