Sammy Joe Callihan

Sammy Joe Callihan, 81, was born on April 26, 1943, in Houston, Texas, and peacefully entered eternal rest on February 3, 2025, in Houston, Texas. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Sammy Joe was deeply devoted to both his faith and his family. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Sammy Joe’s love for the outdoors led him to enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending time at the casino. He was a hard-working man with a great sense of humor, always ready to pull a prank and keep those around him laughing. No matter how busy he was, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures and had an adventurous spirit that kept him active.

He is preceded in death by his father, Staff Sergeant Jasper Bryan Lacey; his mother, Josephine Romine and stepfather, Hershel Romine; his sister; Pat Moore, his brother; Pete Romine, and his stepson, Antonio Castillo Jr.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 50 years, Enriqueta R. Callihan; his son, Gregg Callihan, and wife Cindy; his daughter, Kristyn E. Callihan, and husband William Rhea; his stepdaughters, Dora Gonzalez and Carol Aguirre, and husband Louis; his sister, Bonnie Schlabach and Carol House; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jennifer, who has always been there to care for her grandparents.

Sammy Joe’s memory will be forever cherished by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life’s journey. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
