Stephen Mata Ferrel, Sr.

June 18, 1956 — May 27, 2024 

Stephen was born in Wharton, TX to parents Antonia Mata Ferrel and Salvador Garza Ferrel.

Stephen moved to Houston, TX and went on to become a very skilled and talented machinist. Stephen’s witty sense of humor brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered and his passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved him.

Stephen was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as two angelic grandchildren Stephen Ferrel, III and Sophia Ferrel. 

Stephen is survived by his siblings Alice Brooks and Louis Ferrel; his children Stephen Ferrel, Jr, Gilbert Ferrel Sr, Christine Uresti, and Adam Ferrel; his grandchildren: Jazmine Uresti, Maurice Ferrel, Gabrielle Torres, Gilbert Ferrel Jr, Alexis Uresti, Ray Ferrel and Jade Uresti as well as his great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Stephen's memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were honored to have had the privilege of knowing him.  His legacy will live on for generations to come.

A private service will be held by his immediate family.
