Houston, Texas — William Larry Zermeño, 72, was born on February 26, 1952 and entered eternal rest on May 15, 2024.
He is survived by his parents William and Estella Zermeño; his wife, Carmen Montoya; his daughter Adriana Elena Zermeño and son-in-law Peter John McGrath; his son William Edward Zermeño and daughter-in-law Nina Zermeño; his grandchildren Isabel Marie McGrath and Peter Elias McGrath; and his loving brothers, sisters, and many other dear relatives and friends.
Larry was born and raised in Houston. He graduated Furr High School in 1970. Directly after high school he received his Associates Degree in Business from San Jacinto College. He served 7 years in the Air Force. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business from Sam Houston State University in 1974.
Larry and Carmen married in Goliad, Texas followed by a larger wedding in Mexico. They moved to San Antonio to raise their family. During this time, Larry had a successful career in auditing and finance, and received his Masters of Business Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University. He professionally retired with the San Antonio Water System.
After retirement Larry moved to Goliad to care for and be near his parents, before settling back in Houston. While in Goliad, Larry served as Chief Financial Officer and City Manager for the town, and later served as City Manager of Yorktown. He was a very valued member of the Goliad community, staying active with the Chamber of Commerce, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, LULAC, and the General Zaragoza Society. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goliad.
Larry enjoyed trail riding, golf and his lifelong friendships from all the places he lived. He was known for his humor. He could always brighten up a room with his smile, jokes and laughter. He was a person who could accept hardships calmly, and with no complaint, even to his last day.
He took great pride in being an active and dedicated father. He would say above all that his greatest accomplishments and legacy are his children, the families they started, and his grandchildren.
He will be missed by many.
