Yolanda Farrar (nee Ruiz), age 83, of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 31, 2024. She was born on January 11, 1941, in Mexico City, Mexico.
 
Yolanda was the beloved owner of the Hair by Farrar and Hair Hut beauty salons for many years. She was known for her dedication to her craft and her commitment to making others look and feel their best. Many customers went weekly for years for their hair appointments becoming a second family, along with her co-workers.
 
Yolanda was deeply faithful, finding solace and community for over five decades at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. She was a devoted daughter to Leonor Villanueva, a doting mother to Gabriela Howard, Jessica Farrar, and John Farrar, an adoring step-mother to James C. Farrar and Kimber Hopkins, a jovial grandmother to Christopher Howard, Robert Howard, Abigail Farrar, Wyatt Farrar, Avery Farrar, Alexander Farrar, Mandy Farrar, Tammie Farrar, and James Farrar, an adoring great-grandmother to Sai Howard, a loving sister to Amalia Ruiz Villanueva and Reyna Ruiz Villanueva, and supportive mother-in-law to Keith Howard, Marco A. Sanchez, Holly Farrar, Lisa Pauciello, and Stan Hopkins.
 
Yolanda was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, James A. Farrar, her father, Ruben Ruiz, and her brother, Rene Ruiz Villanueva. She is survived by her mother, her children, step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and sisters.
 
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas. Yolanda will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rock Prairie Cemetery, Oxford Cemetery Road, Madisonville, Texas.
 
The compassionate team at Compean Funeral Home, located at 2102 Broadway, Houston, Texas, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
 
Yolanda will be remembered for her generosity, courage, sense of adventure, dancing, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. May she rest in peace.
