Zeferina Saldaña Garcia

1926-2017

Zeferina Saldaña Garcia, age 91 of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Zeferina was born in Monterrey, Mexico the only daughter of the late Celso Saldaña and Juanita Reyes Saldaña on August 26, 1926.

Zeferina, after being united in marriage to Mario G. Garcia in 1962, began sharing their lives together in Monterrey, Mexico, then moving to America a few years later with their sons Mario S. Garcia and Juan S. Garcia. They would later expand their family with the birth of their baby boy, Xavier S. Garcia. Zeferina was a wife, homemaker and caregiver. The roles she loved carrying out, as she took great pride and joy in achieving. Her life revolved around caring for the needs of her family and in addition to others until her Father in Heaven called her home. She embraced her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She lived for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, which gave her the greatest joy; this was her passion, to care for others especially her family. Zeferina loved cooking, especially her famously delicious tamales!

In addition to her husband Mario G. Garcia, Zeferina is preceded in death by her mother and father, Juanita Reyes Saldaña and Celso Saldaña; her brothers, Adolfo Saldaña, Reymundo Saldaña, Cruz Reyes, and Felipe Reyes.

She is survived by her 3 children; Mario S. Garcia and wife Nicole LeDe’t-Garcia, Juan S. Garcia and wife Laura Gonzalez-Garcia, and Xavier S. Garcia and wife Maurilia Garcia; 1 brother, Jesus Saldaña; 10 grandchildren, John Matthew Garcia, John Michael Garcia, Ashlee LeDe’t-Arceneux, Khristian Garcia, JoAnn Garcia, Daniella Garcia, Xavier Garcia, Jr., Aylin Garcia, Stephanie Garcia, and Mario Ricardo Garcia; 4 great grandchildren; Charlette, Dontae, Jazzebelle Star, and Luciano Sol. Zeferina is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
